Dawn Treader

Dawn Treader is a 48 foot white Swan 48 Mk. II owned and skippered by Lawrence Cohen. This boat won the division and overall trophy in the 2006 race while setting the course record for fastest elapsed time. Dawn Treader was second in IRC in 2008 losing to the winner by one minute on corrected time. This year's crew will be virtually the same crew as the 2006 crew; predominantly Newfoundland sailors who have done a number of races with the boat. In 2009 Dawn Treader won the IRC double-handed division in the Marblehead to Halifax Race and placed third in the Annapolis to Newport race in the IRC fully crewed division. Dawn Treader will be coming to Halifax directly from Bermuda following competition in the 2010 Newport/Bermuda Race. This boat is very well sailed with an experienced skipper and crew. The addition of Steve Benjamin, an Olympic gold medal winner, as tactician makes them a strong favorite to repeat their 2006 perfomance.
