Lieutenant Governor, Province of Nova Scotia
Dear Friends, As Honorary Patron of Route Halifax St. Pierre and as The Queen’s representative in Nova Scotia, I am pleased to extend warm greetings to all participants at the 5th Route Halifax St. Pierre Ocean Race.
I congratulate the organizers, the sponsors and the many volunteers from Nova Scotia, the United States and France who have given generously of their time, talent and energy to bring this exciting competition to fruition. The fact that this event has become well established on the North American yacht racing calendar is a testimony to the tremendous qualities of the sailing sport, community spirit, fellowship and sharing which make the program so successful.
Given the long standing ties between St. Pierre and Nova Scotia, whose shared histories have been shaped by our relationship with the sea, I am pleased to lend the support of the Vice-Regal office to this exciting competition.
Good luck and Godspeed to you all.

Saint-Pierre 2010
Please take advantage of this Open Invitation to join us on the start line in Halifax Harbour for the 5th biennual edition of the Route Halifax Saint Pierre Ocean Race on July 10 2010. Your experience will begin here in beautiful Halifax with a series of pre race social events. The race kick off will be at a great Nova Scotia “Kitchen Party” we call a Ceilidh (K-Lee) featuring live entertainment with a maritime flare! In the past, a Ceilidh was a gathering of the clans to eat, drink, dance and generally have a great party and this will be a great opportunity for visiting yachtsmen to raise a glass with their fellow competitors.
Moorings and dock space will be made available prior to the race start for the visiting yachts. After the skippers meeting and weather briefing, it will be off to the French island of Saint Pierre et Miquelon. Our 2010 race will again be tracked so that family and friends can follow the race through the internet. Your experience will be further enhanced by the warm and friendly hospitality of the citizens of Saint-Pierre et Miquelon. There will be a parade, dances, and dinners so you may experience fine French wines and cuisine. I expect all boats to arrive well in time to enjoy Bastille Day as well; a wondrous celebration of French history. On arrival each boat will be welcomed personally by your Godfather, or Godmother, with a lovely treat made especially for you as a warm welcome to the island. In addition there will be a Grand Prix Race in Saint Pierre Harbour following the Ocean race; an exciting event in itself, and also the now legendary Del Monte Fruit Cup.
Following the events in St Pierre, your experience may include an awesome cruise down the southwest coast of Newfoundland. Visit the whales in their unspoiled pristine waters and then possibly come back through Nova Scotia’s beautiful and world famous Bras d’Or Lakes system.
The race Committee is comprised of experienced keen ocean racers and blue water cruisers. Our committee participants are all active members of the Royal Nova Scotia Yacht Squadron, Chester Yacht Club, New York Yacht Club, Armdale Yacht Club, Dartmouth Yacht Club, and Saint Pierre Yacht Club; our host. We welcome your comments and suggestions. Please visit our website often for exciting additions to our program for 2010, and mark July 10, 2010 in your calendar now.
Please come to Nova Scotia and Saint Pierre for a truly memorable experience!

Présidente,
association Route Halifax Saint-Pierre
On behalf of the Association ROUTE HALIFAX SAINT-PIERRE, I would like to welcome all the sailors for the fifth edition of this splendid event. I would also like to thank all the volunteers who gave a lot of their time in order to accomodate all crews and guests in Saint-Pierre.
Apart from the marine side, we did our best ashore so that all of you will keep in their memories this 2010 stopover.
Happy sailing and see you soon on the finish line!
Karine CLAIREAUX
Maire de Saint-Pierre
Mayor of Saint-Pierre
Welcome to Saint-Pierre for this fifth edition of Route Halifax Saint-Pierre!
An average of 30 boats since 2002, we were honored by the first visit in a french port of the Bluenose II for 2008. The stopover of this Nova Scotian and Canadian symbol highly contributed to the growth of our event which became one of the most famous race year after year. A special thanks to the Canadian Navy which will again visit our island.
The City of Saint-Pierre will always welcome all of you with great pleasure in order to offer you
an unforgetable journey.
Despite the sporting results, your journey in our small city must be a party! I hope that all the festivities organized for you around the race will remain in your memories and will encourage you for another trip to Saint-Pierre et Miquelon.
See you soon in Saint-Pierre.

I would like to extend my welcome to all competitors and potential competitors. RHSP is a world class event sailed in pristine waters with the challenges of wind and weather aplenty.
The Royal Nova Scotia Yacht Squadron provides incomparable hospitality and facilities for those gathering for the race and the french archipelago of St. Pierre & Miquelon does an outstanding job of hosting.
What other race provides the competitors with French champagne at the end of a race and a case of excellent French wine while in St. Pierre? The food in St. Pierre is truly high French cuisine and the people of St. Pierre are caring and responsive hosts.
Following the race the delights of Cape Breton are a short sail away, including Bras D’or lakes. St. Johns New Foundland is a short sail away as well for those who prefer to continue East. For American sailors either of these alternatives are fabulous and provide scenery and solitude that can not be found in Maine.
In 2010 those racers, like myself, who come directly to Halifax from Bermuda will be provided free berthing until the RHSP race.
This is a chance to make some wonderful new friends from Canada and St. Pierre & Miquelon.
I look forward to seeing you on the starting line !
